From Ses Vinyes it is easy to stroll along the waterfront into the village where you will find a range of cafes, shops and restaurants. If you explore a little further beyond the square there is a church and some very pretty back streets. Continue past the church and the path will take you back to the waters edge where you can continue right to the point, where the bay meets the open sea. There is a short walk up to the Martello Tower on the cliff, a perfect spot for watching the sun go down over the sea. Continuing west you will see Fornells cemetery, and behind this are paths leading along the coast to another beach called Playa de Fornells.
If you walk from the house in the other direction, there is a wide foot/cycle path that takes you to another sailing school called Menorca Sailing. This English run company organises 1 week intensive sailing and windsurfing courses for all levels, but must be booked in advance in the UK. See http://www.minorcasailing.co.uk/
The local market town is Mercadal, about 10 minutes drive inland. Here there are several banks, a post office and a wider range of food shopping.
